Things I forgot to say last post and SHINee concert!

Okay this post will probably be long too, because I am sure I am going to "fan girl" about the concert.  I know reading that you are already judging me well it isn't a secret that I love Kpop, but I don't think most people including my parents know how into Kpop I really am.  lol anyways I was so caught up in the DMZ stuff last week I forgot some things. I even forgot to tell you about the wildlife int he DMZ.  So I will start with that. Okay the DMZ has some rare and interesting wild life. Including tigers, cranes, bears and deer.  The tiger that is supposedly living in that area is the rare Siberian Tiger.  They have the red headed crane.  They have the asiatic bear (I think we call it the Sun Bear) and most interesting is the Chinese water deer.

yes the deer has tusks!!!!

Okay 2 weeks ago we had ice cream in my baby class, but this time the ice cream was in bottles that remind me of squeeze it (sorry I don't remember how they spelled/stylized it)

Oh the face James is making is funny.
Kyra and Emily enjoying ice cream.
Judy also wanted me to put her hair up with a highlighter so I did and so we took pictures. She is one of my Elementary students and speaks well.  She has only been learning English for a year and a half and she got into an all English school.

We had to make visors and so I took pictures of Emily and Aiden. Of course they aren't happy in it. lol

kind of smiling

hating me! lol

Okay so now that I finished updating that I will start talking about the concert I went too. (If you don't want to read the "fan girl" part skip to the last paragraph.)

So yesterday was SHINee's concert.  Now let me tell you a little bit about why I love this group so much. If you don't know already they are my favorite Kpop group and I got into Kpop because of them. Before you ask did you come to Korea for Kpop the answer is a big NO! I wouldn't leave my home for a year just for music! That is just silly! I love teaching and I really love the culture here. Okay back to why I got into SHINee (pronounced shiny).  So as some of you may know I have been into Taiwanese music for a number of years and therefore I watched many of their programs with English subtitles of course! On one of my favorite shows SHINee was a guest.  At first I was like okay the singing is okay, but what got my attention was their dancing.  If you know me at all I am a sucker for good dancer!!! I was a dancer so it is kind of the territory. (Other dancers will understand what I mean). Anyways I started looking into them more.  I found their song Lucifer and I was really into it, but what sealed the deal for me what listening to their song Hello they released later that year. Lucifer has an awesome dance, but I really like the other extreme of Hello and how cute it is. I like SHINee because of how diverse they can be with their music.

Anyways the concert was amazing! It started at 7pm and ended at 10:30pm. It was a long concert and maybe only 30 minutes of the concert was them not singing and talking to the fans or set/costume changes.  They put on an excellent concert and they move around the stage and use wires to be closer to the audience.  Okay I should also mention that these boys are young.  They debuted in 2008 and their is 5 of them.  Their group name is SHINee and their fans are called SHINee World and an individual is called a Shawol (which I consider myself as one). Their official color is pearl aqua blue.  Each Kpop group has their own color and they can't copy another group. Onew (real name Lee Jinki) is the leader of the group, a main vocalist and is currently 22 American age (Korean age 24). Jonghyun is the lead singer and is currently 22 American age (Korean age 23). Key (real name Kim Kibum) is a rapper, vocalist and is currently 20 American age (Korean age 22). Minho is the main rapper, a sub vocalist and is currently 20 American age (Korean age 22). Taemin is the maknae (youngest), the main dancer, sub vocalist and just a few days ago turned 19 American age (Korean age 20). Okay so the reason you might wonder if you look between Jonghyun and Onew they are the same American age, but Korean age is different. Well Onew is older and was born in '89 where as Jonghyun was born in '90 making Onew a year older then Jonghyun in Korean age, because when you are born you are already 1 and once the new year comes you turn a year older so when you birthday is it doesn't matter.  So now that you know a little about these boys I am going to talk about some of my favorite things.  I have some pictures only like 3 I took and the rest are the ones their company posted on facebook or their fan groups.
before the concert. Only time I was allowed to take pictures.

Anyone figure out who my favorite member is? lol if not look at the pictures again.  Anyways not only do I love this groups musics but these boys are really close and cute together.  One thing about Korean culture which to many Americans, might be shocked by guys are very cute and friendly to each other.  Things we would only associate with girls being friends is totally normal for boys to do here too.  For example many guys who are just good friends will link arms or hold hands. It is totally normal. (It freaks out some of the guys I work with.) Also you will see guys sit in each others laps. That is totally normal and acceptable in Korea.  Girls do it too of course, but it wouldn't be weird to many.  Also many idols will pretended to kiss each other of the same gender or they will cross dress. It is pretty normal for idols (celebrities) here.

Their concerts was a mixture of mostly Korean songs, some Japanese and a couple of English songs.  Their pronounciation in English is really good.  I was really happy they sang two of my favorite songs. One called "The reason" from their newest mini album and a cover of "Y si fuera ella" in Korean of course.
The first video is a clip from their first concert during a set change and someone put the song to it but it has English subs so you can understand.
The second video is from one of the Japanese concerts, but he did the same one last night.

This is the song list. You can see which ones were in English. Always love, Seesaw and To your heart are all Japanese songs of theirs. They debuted in Japan last year.

Umm... lastly I will put up a couple videos that I was able to find of last night. Some of them is of them teasing each other and/or imitating them.

Okay just a couple of videos of them performing live so you can see how awesome they are. The first is there latest comeback which is called Sherlock. The second is from around the time when they first debuted. I hope you enjoy! One is a dance track and the other is a ballad.

Okay I will stop being a "fan girl" now.  I hope you enjoyed learning about them. I hope you like them but if not no worries. Yes I sang along to every song yesterday even the Japanese ones. Yes I know all their songs.  To be honest though most "fan girls" are worse then me. There is a woman in France that has their names tattooed on her wrist.  Some stalk and are creepy like that.  I just really appreciate their music and how silly they all are. Okay now you all know how much I love this group. lol (I know I am a total nerd!)

Okay done with that tangent.  So I probably won't update next week, but I have a good reason.  It is because I am going to be in Japan!!!! Yes on Saturday I leave for Tokyo, Japan!!!!! I will be in Tokyo for 3 days and Kyoto for 3 days!!!! My grandma is from Kyoto so you can imagine how excited I am to go.  I will try to do a small update on Friday night my time.  If not I won't update till the following weekend, but don't worry I will take lots of picture and I will probably write another long blog. Anyways I am going to go get ready for bed.  I have to work tomorrow!!! Besos!!!

  1. Onew is your favorite one? =) I noticed that some song titles are in Spanish, do they also sing in Spanish?

Anyway, it is good to read your posts.

    1. lol you actually read that part? Yes Onew is my favorite! He is really funny! The one in Spanish on the song list is translated to Korean, but is a Spanish song. They have one song called Senorita, but only the beginning is in Spanish. They don't really sing in Spanish. Not yet anyways... they may later on. They have a really big following in South American so they may down the line.

I'm glad you enjoyed the post sister!
