Christmas!

Well this week was Christmas. I had to work Christmas eve, but I had Christmas day off. The other teachers and I got a hotel for Christmas eve in Seoul. It was nice and we all relaxed and had brunch the next day. I also shared my cake that I got for a gift with all of them. It was a lot of fun. I also had a lot of fun with the kids. We had a Christmas party and I was in charge of the making room. We made Christmas cards for their parents. I have some photos of the kids. They got to make brownies and see Santa. One of the teachers from our sister school dressed up as Santa and Julian from our school went to our sister school to be Santa. I also have some fun videos from the week.

Friday we had may kids sick. 3 kids threw up within 5 min and one wasn't even in the same room. It was weird, but I got it the next day so I was super sick on Saturday. Joey figured out my phone and took many pictures and videos. Crazy kids! I went to see Haris today which is 2 hours away. We had fun though. We ate soon dubu jigae which in English is soft tofu stew. lol it was delicious and very cheap. We even got fried fish as a side. So much food for 7 dollars. Can't beat it! :)

Well here are the videos.  The first one is Jace from my elementary class dancing. He is a crazy kid! The next two are from Joey and the last one is Aiden. Enjoy! I am going to go to bed and enjoy the rest of my vacation. Tomorrow is new year's eve here and it also means my 1 year anniversary is coming up. I left on the 31st back home and I will celebrate one year on the 2nd. Times flies. Well goodnight everyone Happy New Year!!! See you next year!!! Besos!!!!

Preparing for Christmas

Okay not too much went on this week. One of my Korean Teachers got into a car accident so she is in the hospital. She is okay, but in a lot of pain. So I was very busy covering her classes and what not. On Tuesday I worked from 9 to 5 with no lunch or break. To say they least I was brain dead by the end of the day. Other then that I saw Haris yesterday to give him his Christmas gift. He loved it so I am happy. Today I saw Lucy and went to her Christmas party at her Church. I met her parents and they were very nice. I have never been to something where they give you a snack in the middle of the show. I got 2 oranges, 3 things of rice crackers, red ginseng candy and a big piece of rice cake. Oh and I got date tea which was really good. It is also good for your throat. They had a lot of kids performing and my favorite was with all these kids dressed in black and they did a performance in the dark with a black light and special gloves and signs. They made faces and told a story with a song. It was pretty cool. I was the only foreigner there and many people were surprised to see me. They were all very nice and told me Merry Christmas. I had a lot of fun.
This week was probably the first time I experienced homesickness since I have been here. Now I don't mean that I don't miss people back home but I have never wanted to be home until now. Kind of funny since it will be a year in a little over a week.  I think it is because it is Christmas and it is the first one away from my family. Also I miss Christmas back home. Here in Korea Christmas is a dating holiday, like valentines day. It is a little weird and it isn't super decorated like back home. It doesn't feel like Christmas I guess. I bought all my Korean teachers gifts and we did a secret Santa for the foreign teachers, but it just isn't the same.
Well tomorrow is Christmas eve and I will have a party with my students. I am also spending the night with the other teachers and we got a hotel in Myeondong because we have Christmas day off. So I am going to go finish packing my stuff up and go to bed. But I will leave you with a fantastic video from this week of Emily and Aiden. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! Besos!

another week

Hello everyone! Not much to report this week. Just been busy. December is a busy month since vacation is coming up.  I have evaluations and tests to finish up with my kids. They have a field trip coming up. I'm not sure if I am going on it yet, but I think they will enjoy it. Other then that I just have been working and doing a little bit of Christmas shopping for my friends here.  I met up with Haris yesterday and got my secret Santa gift for one of the current teachers here. I hope they like it. Other then that I got some stuff for myself and I relaxed today since I am getting a cold.  hmm... lets see I have some pictures to share. Einstein class (mainly Ella and Aaron) making funny faces.  Oh and I had phone teaching this week where I call each of my 22 kids and talk to them for 10 minutes each. Well I called Ella and she fell back to sleep on the phone with me. They funny part was she was answering my questions in her sleep. I only realized she was sleeping about a minute in when I heard snoring.  It was pretty funny.  Also another student I called wasn't home. I usually call from my cell phone because I go home since it is late when they got home. Well since she wasn't there I just guessed I would call her the next day. Well about a half an hour later my phone started ringing. It was my student. Sunny had called me to phone teach her. It was cute. After her and I were done I got a text from her. It was a picture of her and her sister next to their Christmas tree. It was really cute.

Photo from Sunny.

This one I made of Einstein. They are too cute!
Oh I have some videos of my Basic E class (elementary class). Rachel makes really funny and cute faces when we play duck duck goose. Hope you enjoy them. That is all I have so I am off to go grade so more! Have a good night! Besos!

Winter time in Korea!!!

So this week we had snow fall.  It snowed maybe 2 to 3 inches. From what I heard this was one of the biggest snowfalls they have had in a few years. It happened on Wednesday and all the kids were excited. We took them to play in it on the 8th floor. They loved it. lol It wasn't a lot of snow for me compare to back home (which I heard is pretty warm). But for most of the teachers and kids it was a lot of snow. It however has been very cold with highs in the teens. Walking in it sucks, but manageable.

hmm... I have some funny pictures of Emily and Aiden. They were in such a funny mood this week. Well on Wednesday they moved classrooms and we have a mat on the floor in the new classroom. So they just want to sit on the mat and do work. They do work but they love to lay on the mat reading and writing. Some highlights for the week. First Aiden had one of my pens and was clicking it on the table so it was bouncing. So I look at him and ask him what he is doing and he looks at me and says "dancing" and just laughs and continues on. what got me the most is the way he said it. He emphasized the "dan" part. It was so funny. Emily have like 10 laughing fits that lasted forever. The funny part is she was writing and she would just start laughing. Also on Friday Emily wrote in her book "Tara ball is expensive." I asked her what that is and she explained to me that it was me rolled up in a ball with my face on it. I laughed so hard. They also wore my coat and they were just crazy. So here is a video of Emily explaining "Tara ball". Oh also I don't know if I ever mentioned this but in the old room in the back we had famous people on the wall. Back when Philip was here as a class we joked that we were married to different people in the back. So Philip was married to Yuna Kim (a famous Korean figure skater), I was married to Obama (they told me I didn't choose), Emily was dating Abraham Lincoln, and Aiden was dating Audrey Hepburn (and Yuna Kim sometimes.) Anyways a few month back I finally told Emily and Aiden that Obama was really married and her name was Michelle Obama. I even showed them a picture. So they haven't said much since, but on Friday Emily decided something. Watch the video first. I will finish it after the video. hehe
trying to wear my coat

Aiden killed Emily (really they just fell)

So yeah if you didn't get that I am now Michelle Obama Tr. haha. They were super hyper and in the video Emily was laying on me and Aiden knocked my phone during the video so sorry for all the shaking. Most of these picture their Korean Tr took and sent them to me. They have been making a lot of Christmas decorations. They are really cute. Well that is all I have. Not too much really. I am off to finish writing some test for this week. Have a wonderful week everyone! Besos!!!
